jazz cruise

In this conversation recorded on The Smooth Jazz Cruise 24.1, saxophonist Mindi Abair talks with cruise host Talaya from SiriusXM. Mindi talked about collaborating with other artists on The Smooth Jazz Cruise. And about breaking into the music business when she first moved to LA where she was discovered by Bobby Lyle. She also reflects on partnering with guitarist Randy Jacobs in the band The Boneshakers. All Guests are required to pay port charges, government taxes and fees, onboard service gratuities for shipboard staff and other charges due and payable to third parties.

However, each day, guests will have several excursion or event options which they can reserve. Victoria has a rugged seafront, one of North America’s oldest Chinatown districts and a snow-free climate, giving the city a broad appeal. Downtown, you’ll find a great nightlife, regular festivals and events and a wide choice of restaurants, with a special focus on farm-to-table freshness. It’s also right by the docks, where you can enjoy the very popular whale watching tours. In creating these excursions and events, Jazz Cruises has retained the services of several experts in the field. As you peruse the various options, those involved in the process will be identified.

Trivia contests, Name That Tune events and various dancing events are plentiful during the week. These are just a couple of the events that will take place over the course of Botti at Sea II (‘25). Be sure to bring your basketball shoes and pickleball paddles, as the Summit is equipped with an interactive sports court. Opened in 2013, the 35,000-square-foot SFJAZZ Center is located on the corner of Fell and Franklin Streets in the heart of San Francisco’s fine arts district. The Center is the first stand-alone structure in the country built specifically for jazz performance, with the 700-seat Robert N. Miner Auditorium and 100-seat Joe Henderson Lab. The building was designed by award winning architect Mark Cavagnero with the audio designed by Sam Berkow, one of the nation’s premier acoustical consultants.

The Houston Person Dance Party is one of the great events of the Cruise. Be sure to bring your pickleball paddles, as the Summit is equipped with an interactive sports court. Robin Eubanks is one of the premier jazz trombonists of his generation. Whether performing with his groups, EB3 or Mental Images, or with the critically acclaimed Dave Holland Quintet and Big Band, Robin is an artist whose impact on audiences has proven powerful and lasting. Robin has recorded more than seven albums as a leader featuring his original music.

Sold by Entertainment Cruise Productions, which also runs the Smooth Jazz Cruise and the Jazz Cruise, Blue Note at Sea is a comparatively cooler, bluesier kind of music theme cruise. Acts you'd find in a hip blues joint pepper the lineup, including a younger set of up-and-coming artists. Catch performances by blues, roots, jazz and R&B performers, and enjoy musical events, from live interviews to rare collaborations. When in port, lectures and other events are planned for the early part of the day and the music typically starts around 4 pm. Daytime music shows may be presented in any of the music venues (Celebrity Theatre, Rendezvous Lounge or Sky Lounge).

VICTORIA, B.C.

Our selected wineries are family-owned and operated, which means each winery visit will feel like home. We have managed to get some of the best of the best in the jazz world to come perform for you on our jazz cruise. Just to let you know though, this year, pricing is temporary and subject to change at any time. Beginning in the 1990s, he toured with the Tommy Flanagan Trio and he has played with the Bill Charlap Trio since the mid ‘90s. In 2008, Washington played with The Blue Note 7, an all-star septet formed in honor of Blue Note Records’ 70th Anniversary.

JAZZ CRUISES PRESENTS STL JAZZ FEST ’24!

"It’s not just the variety of musicians that makes JazzFest at Sea so popular. It’s having so many musicians thrown together in a relaxed, less-structured environment that offers moments of totally unrehearsed magic." Jeff is also the co-leader of the Clayton/Hamilton Jazz Orchestra (the Grammy® -nominated big band that provides backup for Diana Krall). The Jeff Hamilton Trio featuring Tamir Hendelman and John Hamar, has been a pillar of The Jazz Cruise for nearly two decades. For years, Jeff has served as the untitled co-producer of The Jazz Cruise aiding our staff with insights and ideas that have made The Jazz Cruise so special. For the last several years, Robin has divided his rigorous performing schedule with the Mingus Big Band and his own groups with teaching at The Oberlin College Conservatory where he serves as a tenured Professor of Jazz Trombone. He has sailed numerous times on The Jazz Cruise as an All-Star but returns in 2025 to perform with his two brothers.

The goal for each show is to transform the main theater into a world-class showroom and give the guests a program that would be the equivalent of a top show on land…and do that for 7 consecutive nights. Botti at Sea II (’25) is a charter cruise program designed in the spirit and style of Chris Botti, America’s #1 selling American instrumentalist since 2004. Though it dominates the jazz and adult music genre presented on Journey of Jazz ’25, it has also produced cruises that feature rock, country, gospel, pop music and more. Chris has perfected the art of ensemble entertainment, using his command of the stage and easy manner to create entertainment experiences unlike that of most musicians on tour. Moving that special experience to sea is both a natural extension of his talents and an exciting catalyst for the development of a new charter cruise program.

Dubbed "The Greatest Jazz Festival at Sea," the Jazz Cruise promises a jam-packed schedule featuring 100 jazz musicians. Dianne Reeves, Shelly Burg and Christian McBride are some of the famous faces you might see onboard. The fully chartered sailing has been cruising for almost two decades, and it features a festival-style schedule with multiple performances happening at the same time. For more than a decade, saxophonist Dave Koz has been hosting multiple fully chartered Royal Caribbean sailings each year, featuring smooth jazz performers, R&B musicians and special guests like comedians and magicians. Jazz Cruise itineraries vary year by year, with past sailings in the Mediterranean, Alaska and the Caribbean. Programming The Jazz Cruise starts with nearly 100 world-class musicians, scheduling them in exciting configurations for over 200 hours of music, and presenting the music festival-style over seven jam-packed days.

On two nights of the Cruise (the 1st Night and Formal Night), special shows (“The Jazz Cruise Welcome Show” and “The Jazz Cruise Hall of Fame Show”) are presented in the Celebrity Theatre. Each such show will be performed twice, with half of the guests attending the 1st Show and the other half attending the 2nd Show. Which show you attend is determined when you complete your Reservation and is reflected in the color of your Cruise Identification Card (BLUE or RED). On all other nights, the Celebrity Theatre hosts large group presentations and special shows that require greater seating capacity. For these shows, the “Festival Style” open entry and seating procedures are in effect with the same regulations as those in any other venue. The Jazz Cruise knows him best as the most influential person in the history and development of the program.

Koz markets the cruise as a "feast for the senses" and, accordingly, the schedule's events feature performers that range from R&B singers and instrumental jazz musicians to comedians and DJs. Currently the Millennium Class ships of Celebrity Cruises provide us with the best opportunity to present our programs. Anchored by an amazing main theater (Celebrity Theatre), which seats more than half our guests at one time, those ships have significant additional performance venues (Sky Lounge, Rendezvous Lounge, Foyer, Pool Deck). And, as we saw upon our first inspection of the ships, there is an amazing bonus venue. With a little imagination, we convert the main dining room (The Cosmopolitan Restaurant) into a performance venue most afternoons and a gorgeous jazz cabaret every evening.
